Natural Hemphasis' Letter to Mike Harris:
Dear Premier,It is in regard to a matter of the utmost importance that I am writing you today.
I have been following with interest the recent Lands for Life debate, and I would like to express my utter dissatisfaction with the proposed Lands for Life plan.
I believe that Crown Land is the people's land, and that opening this land up so completely to industry, is not in the public interest. It is in the interest of a wealthy and powerful minority, namely large corporate interests.
Please understand that I am not against economic development. In fact I am the owner of a business, a tax payer and employer who believes in sustainable development. Lands for Life does not represent sustainable development.
It is my belief that even the 15-20% protected wilderness that has been called for as recently as yesterday by 1252 scientists is not enough. Please reconsider this misguided plan, for the sake of the people of Ontario today, and for generations to come.
