Six Nations Receives First Industrial Hemp Cultivation License!
Health Canada has just issued a license to Six Nation's farmer Barry Hill to grow hemp as a dual purpose commercial crop on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, near Brantford, Ontario. This license allows for both grain and fibre production, and permits a crop of 10 acres for 1998. This license is, to the best of our knowledge, the first and only license to grow hemp for commercial purposes to be granted to a Canadian First Nation.
Several varieties of seed have been secured, and will be planted before the end of the month without the use of herbacides or pesticides. For more information on the Six Nations Hemp Project, or to inquire about securing a portion of the limited 1998 harvest please contact:
