Selected Recent Projects:
- Sept 2005 - Harvest Time!
The new crop is in! Natural Emphasis’ very own hemp variety ESTA-1 (affectionately known as esta-uno) is coming off the fields and is looking great. Conventionally bred to maximize yield, ESTA-1 is medium height, with dense buds and medium to large seeds. ESTA-1 has been an official hemp seed variety registered by Health Canada since 2004 and is poised to take the hemp industry by storm. For more details please contact dave@hemphasis.com.
- July 2004 - Guest Speaker at Ontario Hemp Alliance Field Day, Ridgetown College
- March 2004 - Fuel, Organic Fuel and Fun Fuel bars (www.fuelbars.com) rebranded and launched in US at Expo West, Anaheim, CA.
- 2004 - Commercial hemp variety ESTA-1, a joint project of Natural Hemphasis and Phytogene Resources, officially registered.
- 2003 - "Tetrahydrocannabinol Levels in Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) Germplasm Resources" by Ernest Small and David Marcus published in Economic Botany vol. 57, pp.545-558.
- 2002 - Natural Empahsis secures exclusive rights for Pure Hemp cigarette papers (www.purehemp.com ) for the U.S. market.
- 2001 - Fast Fuel and Fun Fuel bars (www.fuelbars.com) launched in Canada.

1999-2000:
- September 2000 - Ontario Hemp Alliance co-organizer and sponsor of the Hemp Expo at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, Woodstock, Ontario, Sept. 12-14, 2000.
- May 2000 - Sucessful grant applications prepared by Natural Hemphasis on behalf of the Ontario Hemp Alliance:
* $30 000 matching funds from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Adaptation Council's CanAdapt program to cover the OHA's first year of operation (including hiring an executive director, the production of a quarterly newsletter and the design and maintenance of the OHA website www.OntarioHempAlliance.org).
* $5 000 special projects grant from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture for the OHA to produce a hemp cook book.
- April 2000 - Organizer and sponsor of Renewal: An artistic celebration of Ontario’s re-emerging hemp industry, BCE Place, Toronto, April 16-26, 2000. A high profile (average daily walk through of 15 000) hemp awareness and media event in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. A total of twelve sponsors including: Domtar, Kenex, Hempline, Hempola, and the Ontario Hemp Alliance.
- Nov. 1999 - April 2000: Natural Hemphasis contracted to act as project manager for the establishment of the Ontario Hemp Alliance (OHA). For more information on the Ontario Hemp Alliance or to become a member, please visit www.OntarioHempAlliance.org.
- June - Oct. 1999 - Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Center) and Natural Hemphasis collaborative research project "Oil Potential of Hemp in Canada." Natural Hemphasis directly responsible for research field trials of 65 different hemp varieties.
- May 1999 to Aug. 2000 - First and subsequent issues of the Hemp Commerce and Farming Report published online by Natural Hemphasis (www.hemphasis.com/hcfr). Natural Hemphasis is also a regular contributor to this publication.
- Feb. - Sept. 1999 - Co-organizer of the Hemp Industries Association annual convention, this year to be held for the first time in Canada. Open to all HIA members this year's conference will be held Sept. 23-26 at the Ecology Retreat Center in the picturesque Hockley Valley near Toronto, Ontario. The highlight of the convention will be a visit to a local commercial hemp farm and talks by a variety of Canaidan hemp experts. Click here for convention details!!
- Jan. - March 1999 - Arranged and scripted a co-operative hemp public education and advertising campaign on CIUT, University of Toronto Radio. Please click here for more details.
- 1998 - March 1999 - Lobbied for an increase in protected area under the Ontario government's controversial Land's For Life proposal. Please click here for more details.

- Jan. 1999 - Licenses to process industrial hemp and to produce industrial hemp derivatives granted to Natural Hemphasis clients

- Nov. 1998 - License to condition industrial hemp granted to Natural Hemphasis client
- "Six Nations Hemp Project" and "Can Hemp Help?" published in Commercial Hemp Magazine, Vol.2, Issue 7, Fall 1998.
- June 1998 - Commercial Hemp Cultivation in Canada: "An Economic Justification" Revised and published on line here.
- May 15, 1998 - commercial cultivation licenses received on behalf of two Natural Hemphais clients, including Six Nation's farmer Barry Hill (please click here for more details)
- April 1, 1998 - Six Nations Hemp Seed Feasibility Study, comissioned by the Six Nations Economic Development Commission, and Aboriginal Business Canada

1997:
- Senator Milne Speaks Out On Hemp!
- Authored a successful application, including an original research proposal, for a permit to grow hemp (for seed and fibre) for research purposes on behalf of the Six Nations Economic Development Commission. To the best of our knowledge this is the first permit to grow hemp to be granted to a First Nations community.
- "Hemp Agronomics" published in Hemp Pages, a publication of HempWorld, 1997, pp.10-15.
